Goodreads:

It’s all-out war (and no-holds-barred romance) in the climactic conclusion to Carrie Jones’s bestselling series.

Zara is at the center of an impending apocalypse. True, she’s successfully rescued Nick from Valhalla, but it simply isn’t enough. Evil pixies are ravaging Bedford, and they need much more than one great warrior; they need an army. Zara isn’t sure what her role is anymore. She’s not just fighting for her friends; she’s also a pixie queen. And to align her team of pixies with the humans she loves will be one of her greatest battles yet. Especially since she can’t even reconcile her growing feelings for her pixie king . . .

Unexpected turns, surprising revelations, and one utterly satisfying romantic finale make Endure a thrilling end to this series of bestsellers.

Review: Until I Die (Revenants #2) by Amy Plum

Until I Die (Revenants #2) by Amy Plum

Publishers:
HarperCollins
Published Date: May 8th 2012
From: Bought
My rating:
4 out of 5
Synopsis:
Kate and Vincent have overcome the odds and at last they are together in Paris, the city of lights and love.

As their romance deepens there’s one question they can’t ignore: How are they supposed to be together if Vincent can’t resist sacrificing himself to save others? Although Vincent promises that he’ll do whatever it takes to lead a normal life with Kate, will that mean letting innocent people die? When a new and surprising enemy reveals itself, Kate realizes that even more may be at stake—and that Vincent’s immortality is in jeopardy.

In Die for Me, Amy Plum created a captivating paranormal mythology with immortal revenants and a lush Paris setting. Until I Die is poised to thrill readers with more heart-pounding suspense, spellbinding romance, and a cliff-hanger ending that will leave them desperate for the third and final novel in the series.
Review:
*Sigh* Vincent and Kate. Two of the most wonderful characters I've read in a long time. In Die for Me the premise of the story was very much about Kate discovering Vincent's secret and how she coped with his revenant background.

Until I Die is very much a middle book. Kate and Vincent are settling into the comforts of their relationship, and they are very much in love. When two new/older revenants replace Charlotte and Charles in the Maison things start to go a bit array injecting tension between Vincent and Kate. Arthur immediately shows his distaste for Kate's humanness, but Violette shows compassion for Kate's youth and seems very much in awe of hers and Vincent's unity.

But even though their leader is dead, the enemy - numa - are making another stance. Various revenant abodes get burgled including Papy's gallery. The plot explodes as Vincent gets involved with a project so secretive that he cannot enlighten Kate or ease her mind, even though it could be the answer to their own predicament. This secret doesn't sit well with Kate. Vincent begins to look ill and in need of his dormancy more and more just to recover from the repercussions. As a throwback Kate begins her own investigation of the revenant history to try and discover another way of staying with Vincent and slowing down his compulsion to die saving people. Soon rumours drift in that another mysterious leader has taken place of Lucien and is searching for something to do with a revenant Champion.

With secrets building up on both sides Kate falls back on newbie Violette to take her mind off things and the two become closer. Georgia, Kate's older sister, also brings a lighter side of life to Kate's which is getting ever darker as she and Vincent step around one another without revealing what they are each up to.

All of the previous characters have their own roles that play an important part resulting in a finale and cliffhanger that will have you screaming for the next book.

First of all, I loved this book just a little less than Die for Me but I still loved it. The Parisien setting is wonderfully written, the revenant history has been expanded so we get to learn more about the lore and myths of Vincent and his family. The new characters are intriguing, but I guessed something was wrong! And Georgia adds to the spice with her quirky and realistic say-it-how-it-is attitude.

This book has lot more action and suspense that keeps you gripped to the story just hoping that our favourite characters make it to the end - but do they?

Until I Die is now available as an ebook, Hardback or Paperback. Get it now!

Review: Endure (Need #4) by Carrie Jones

Review:
The Need series by Carrie Jones is one of those where you read the first book and its great, then you wonder apprehensively at the direction the rest of the books are going to go. I must admit that when I started on Captivate and the whole Valhalla story opened up I was pretty excited. I love mythological stories. But knowing how Entice ended I was very unsure, maybe a little doubtful if Carrie Jones could pull off anything as spellbinding as the first three books. I mean, what could be bigger than fighting Frank in front of Odin and Thor?

Well, you know what? She absolutely did! Endure is not only a testament to the growth of Carrie's writing but her storytelling also. The characters weave a magical way through Endure that hits every nerve, bone and emotion in your body. The tension and compelling suspense doesn't stop from beginning to end. The story opens out wonderfully drawing in more Norse legends and whisking Zara and crew away to new lands in a hope of defeating evil pixie Frank and ending the apocalypse.

Now with her wolf, Nick, on one side and Astley, the good pixie king on the other, and a whole array of old and new characters, this is an adventure that will be hard to break away from.

The one thing that struck me at the end was how empowering Carrie has created all the women of her books. Even Issie, the token human of the scoobie gang has enough attitude to warn off a rhino attack. The introduction of Hel in this book was no exception either. If ever there was a series that screamed 'girl power' then this is the one, and our heroine Zara is almighty in her human AND pixie form. From the
moment you start this book you understand how much Zara has grown as a character. No longer basing every decision on her groups ability to live or die, she finally grasps the bigger picture. The world is more important than their lives alone. The world, with all its flaws and badness, must continue turning for the sake of humankind, and if lives must be forfeit then so be it. But the hardest decisions are also the most heartbreaking. Astley or Nick. Pixie or wolf.

Of course, if you've read the first three books then it goes without saying that you'll pick this one up. But if you haven't yet been encouraged to read the Need series then you're missing out on a spectacular, original and wonderful story. And the ending with the romance? Perfect, and exactly how I hoped it would end.

No Young Adult collection is complete without it, Endure is out 8th May 2012

Review: Guardians: The Girl by Lola St.Vil

Guardians: The Girl by Lola St.Vil

Publishers:
Self-Published
Published Date: Feb 10th 2012
From: Author's Request
My rating:
4 out of 5
Synopsis:
Emmy - a bookish, witty student - is rescued by six teenaged angels with powers, called Guardians. They've been sent to elicit the secret from her before the demons can. Emmy later learns that her name is the only clue to locating a sought-after bridge that for centuries, Evil has plotted to destroy; this would in turn bring about the end of humanity.

Things get worse when Emmy falls madly in love with Marcus, the well-intentioned but obstinate leader of the Guardians. He eventually confesses that he is in love with her as well. Unfortunately, Marcus has been warned by his clairvoyant and omniscient guide that should he and Emmy get together, the mission will fail and humanity will perish.

Review:

This is the first of two self-published books that completely blew me away. I recommend bloggers to read and review them. The authors deserve full credit for their awesome stories.

~~~
So I've been having an Angel detox for 3 months. I've read so many in the last year that I couldn't stomach much more God vs. Satan, Fallen Angels, White Angels, Good versus Evil Etc. I started one more, a traditionally published popular one at that, and I couldn't take it. Same old, same old. I had to put it away and start another paranormal genre.
So when Lola sent me a copy of her book I had middling expectations. However, what I read, even in the first few pages was the biggest shocking wow I've experienced in a long while. Guardians is an amazing read!
The story is complete in the following ways. There are great fun characters. There's a hormonally emotional teen girl at the centre. The gimmicks of snaps, ports, samson string, holders, and runners are well planned. The lore and dictionary of angel terms is so different and new to anything I've ever read. The dialogue is quick-witted and unique and the romance isn't anything I expected at all. This is a book that has been thoroughly planned, right down to the tiny intricate details and my hat goes off to Lola for it, she's written something exceptional.
At the end of Part 1, I absolutely felt my heart go out to Emmy. She's 15 and so obsessively in love. We all remember what that was like, right? I remember being completely nuts about a guy and I cycled for 2 miles to go past his house every night just to see if he was in! Hmm! Anyway!
Emmy can never have what she wants. And there's the twist. She doesn't get it entirely and her life becomes unbearable. The pure emotions that pour out of this girl are heart breaking and nothing can change what has happened. In addition, she's not only responsible for saving the world but a possible conduit to ending it also. Pressure!
At the end of Part 2, I wanted to wring the Guardian leader Marcus' neck for being such a dolt! Get your Rah back, I was shouting! Then you realise that his life isn't easy either. The others in his group are turning against him and the dangers and enemies are doubling, tripling around him, Emmy, and the Guardians to such intensity that...
Part Three just didn't stop. I literally turned page after page barely breathing. The action was electric and so fast paced it changed into a thriller at break-neck speed.
Lola, I really hope you can write the second book quickly because I feel like I'm standing in mid-air wondering what's going to happen next. Will the Guardians prevail? Will the evil turn on her Mum? Will they ...? Won't they...? Argh!!! See what I mean!
Guardians: The Girl astounded me. There's no comparison to anything I've read about angels before and if you like angel books such as Hush, Hush, Fallen or Halo then ... two words. READ IT!
