Review: I loved the Irish folklore, and the lore of the Milesians, Danu and
Killian. The Seventh Sons and Daughters are now out to kill each other
and our heroine Brianna is a Seventh daughter, but has a past that is
unknown to her apart from stories her Nana told when she was younger.
The
characters were great and the story easily weaved them in and out with
perfect pace. There's a lot of drama and tension but mostly between
Brianna, Blake and Austin (yes, there's a triangle!)
What I
wasn't keen on was the heavy narrative between each piece of dialogue.
Sometimes I had to skip it to get to the next bit. Sometimes I thought the story lacked depth. But overall it's a
good yarn brought into modern day. If you're a fan of books with
folklore and history then this is for you!

Review:
The Soul Screamers saga has to be one of my favourite series of all time. Kaylee is such an awesome heroine and grows continually from book to book.
This time she has the unfortunately downside to deal with in that she's dead. Not zombie dead --she looks alive, eats and drinks, although she doesn't have to--but she's dead. Just like Tod.
The gang are all reunited. Sabine, Nash, Emma, Alec, and all the other characters that have passed Kaylees way from time to time. Kaylee has a new job as a Restoration Agent but she still has to attend school. Well, she doesn't have to but its all about routine. And routine tells her that to cope with her demise she must continue for the sake of her friends to openly appear normal.
The problems start heading Kaylees way sooner than she'd like. A hellion from her past is intent on making her adjustment difficult. And soon complications get involved with emotions. Nash, Kaylees ex, is still dealing with his own problems which relate directly to Kaylee. Her father is coping in his own way. But her rock, the only one who truly knows and understands her is Tod. I didn't like Tod initially (in all the first 5 books actually) but in this one he really shines through. There is a lot of romancing with Tod but its all good.
Once again the story reaches a gripping climax that wasn't expected in any way. Expect tears, laughter, pure class Sabine moments and a whole lot of sorrow.
But at the end of the day Kaylee Cavanaugh is amazing, and there are no words more meaningful to categorize her other than 'A true Hero'.
I now can't wait for the next installment thanks to a nail-biting cliffhanger...grrr, damn you Rachel!!!

Its a rocky, torrid ride for Aura when Logan dies on THE night of a) making superstardom with his band and b) the night she and Logan would finally love under the sheets.
For Aura, a post-Shifter, a world of ghosts is an everyday occurence but for those pre-Shift, its a confusing time to live in. Luckily for Aura, her Aunt runs a legal firm which helps ghosts sue for unlawful death, and then pass over to the other side.
So seeing Logan in his violet ghost state is firstly a shock but not a complete surprise. Aura deals with the stupid events that were Logans last minutes, and then the aftermath and subsequent court case pursued by his parents.
Add to this a hot new boy from bonny Scotland, Zach, who seems to be keeping a whole lot of secrets from her, AND keeping her secrets from other people. Just what is going on?
Aura and Zach find out that they were born one minute apart. He was pre- and she was post-Shift. Actually he was the only baby born in the last minute just as she was the only baby born in the first minute.
A story unfolds of her mothers journey to Ireland and the events of a Winter Solstice at Newgrange which may be connected with the Shift.
Sound confusing so far? Yep. This is a great story with lots of avenues leading off to other areas of importance or relevance. In no way do we ever find out what exactly the Shift was or how it occurred. All we know is that Aura and Zach are involved in a big conspiracy, and certain authorities have been keeping an eye on them both. Lucky for Zach, his father turns out NOT to be the political science teacher that we thought he was.
In the final chapters Aura and Logans relationship changes, and Aura and Zachs alters. Both important in their own way but confusing Aura immensely on which way her heart should go.
I liked Logan hugely although in the end I did get the impression his character was a little too selfish for my liking. He enjoyed the limelight and stardom a little too much. Zach is definitely a better option, and he's alive for one thing. And Aura? I liked her relationship with her friends and the rest of the Keeley clan. I'm not sure I liked her greatly but I did feel sorry for her. Some parts of the book are very devastingly sad and she doesn't bounce back quickly which I liked.
Apart from all the doom and gloom (that's ghosts for you!) this is a wonderful read whoever side you're on!

Review:
Wow! Wow! Wow! This one took me down me down a road I didn't think I'd travel on! From the first book I've been rooting for Nash. Even when he showed signs that he'd do anything for Kaylee to make up for the wrongs that he'd done. But I always knew that would take a miraculous event for her to finally forgive him.
And when she finds out that she has six days to live there is no way on earth that a make up is possible. And finally she realises that if its not possible to fix, then leave it alone for someone else to.
In this whole book, Kaylee acts selflessly trying to fix all of the problems including the new teacher preying on young girls.
Ultimately the more you try to fix things the worse the problems actually become, and for Kaylee the clock keeps ticking.
I've never been a Tod fan. I've always found him too annoying and interfering to be good for Kaylee. But in this story he's the only one she can turn to who isn't more screwed up than her.
As her family and friends try to find a way for her NOT to die, it all comes down to her own testiment of determination and past actions to prove to the makers that her being on the planet is better for everyone...although it might not be exactly how she planned.
With the title of the book being different from the other ones in this series this is definitely a curve in the whole dramatic storyline that is Soul Screamers.
I can't wait for the next one to find out what happens now....

Review:
Oh boy! Vincent does it again with another fantastic episode in the Soul Screamers saga.
Not only do we have Kaylee, who is slightly broken underneath, but Nash is back to his normal almost-amazing devotion of Kaylee. That is despite the withdrawl from his addiction to Demon's breathe, and the fact that he was aware that evil bad-guy Avari was using Kaylee's body (something she still can't forgive him for - and who would?)
Kaylee knows that if it was just the addiction she probably could have helped Nash more through his withdrawl but for Avari to use her body and Nash know about it, thats something that goes way beyond the laws of loyalty and trust. Something she probably can't do either of with Nash again.
Kaylee is clearly just about coping with life without Nash, and its now up to Alec (rescued from the Netherworld in the previous book) and Tod to hold her together with an enormous amount of help from Emma, her BFF.
I must admit that I hated Sabine from the start, probably because I was supposed to. I really wanted Kaylee and Nash to have a chance again but either Sabine or Tod always got in the way. Tod for better and Sabine for worse.
Staring Kaylee straight in the eye is jealousy. Everytime she sees Sabine with Nash she gets wound up. But she doesn't understand why because she turned him away. Right? Wrong...there are worse forces of the Netherworld at work which is driving all of the kids at school nuts. Suddenly best friends are fighting one another, maiming each other and causing chaos and mayhem at the school.
Kaylee is convinced its Sabine when she finds out that Sabine is actually a Mara, or Nightmare. She can pick out your fears and bring them to the surface, making you unable to control yourself.
While Nash and Kaylee get pushed further apart, and while Sabine pushes all of Kaylees buttons Tod makes more of a show of his affection towards Kayley, which in my mind has been a long time coming. I loved the way that she was finally able to see that Tod would do anything for her, whereas Nash is still under the cloud because he gave all their 'firsts' away to Avari.
Sooner than later all of their lives get so messed up that Kaylee is 99% sure that something in the Netherworld is responsible for it. And she goes to investigate with terrifying consequences.
Once again, I loved every single page of this book. I just keep wanting to read more and more!

Review:
I loved all the charcters of the first book so I had to find out what was going to happen with Kayley, Nash, Tod and her family considering the end of the first book pretty much left all of that high and dry.
Firstly Kaylee is now living with her father, which she gets on with even though he now puts down rules for her which she didn't really have before. He tries to act like a father should except he hasn't been around for thirteen years so this scenario would have driven me crazy but Kaylee handles it well.
Kaylee herself develops such an understanding of herself in this book. She steps up every time and takes the lead. And everyone else follows her, which considering she wasn't aware of her Banshee background until a few weeks before is great. The only thing she has issues with is self-confidence when it comes to Nash. She constantly asks herself if he'll leave her once they get further in their relationship (and by further I mean sex). In one way this is her immaturity showing through, she's not that experienced when it comes to boys and we all know that Nash is more experienced when it comes to girls.
No matter how many times these two charcters try to bond more in their love there are always complications or interruptions. Mostly from Reaper brother, Tod, who in my mind would have had a frying pan in the face if he carried on those antics. Either Tod is trying to intervene in some way or just being downright annoying, I don't know but he does prove that he's a valuable friend in this book and clearly thinks alot of Kaylee (more than he should? we'll see).
The premise of the story is rescueing Addy from dying and entering the Netherworld because she sold her soul. There's always a hidden message in Vincent's stories and this comes out loud and clear. Nothing is worth selling out for, and fame and fortune doesn't come easily. You have to work for it through hard graft and determination. Any shortcut is going to have side effects.
While Kaylee battles with new baddy Avari, we also have Emma join us in the know-how of Banshee and otherwordly life. She understands that more is going on than she realises but is happy with the 'Don't ask - don't tell' arrangement with Kaylee.
Overall, I liked this book. Not as much as the first but it comes up with a good plot and great twists and turns. The characters have all developed more since the first book and I know that alot is being left for the third to continue with.

Review:
Wow! Kaylee is one of those heroines who you just want to be like. She's smart, funny, completely adorable, and has the most awesome friendship with her best friend, Emma. Plus, brand new boyfriend, Nash, is so devoted I almost have a crush on him myself.
This book takes on the Banshee element of Paranormal and its not one I've read about before. The whole premise of Irish Banshees was fully covered, and understandable. Wrapped into a likeable story and realistic situations this action packed adventure is definitely one to get your hands on.
