Synopsis:
The entire school's talking about the gorgeous new math teacher, Mr. Beck. Everyone except Kaylee Cavanaugh. After all, Kaylee's no ordinary high-school junior. She's a banshee—she screams when someone dies.
But the next scream might be for Kaylee.
Yeah—it's a shock to her, too. So to distract herself, Kaylee's going to save every girl in school. Because that hot new teacher is really an incubus who feeds on the desire of unsuspecting students. The only girls immune to his lure are Kaylee and Sabine, her boyfriend's needy ex-girlfriend. Now the unlikely allies have to get rid of Mr. Beck…before he discovers they aren't quite human, either.
But Kaylee's borrowed lifeline is nearing its end. And those who care about her will do anything to save her life.
Anything.
Review:
Wow! Wow! Wow! This one took me down me down a road I didn't think I'd travel on! From the first book I've been rooting for Nash. Even when he showed signs that he'd do anything for Kaylee to make up for the wrongs that he'd done. But I always knew that would take a miraculous event for her to finally forgive him.
And when she finds out that she has six days to live there is no way on earth that a make up is possible. And finally she realises that if its not possible to fix, then leave it alone for someone else to.
In this whole book, Kaylee acts selflessly trying to fix all of the problems including the new teacher preying on young girls.
Ultimately the more you try to fix things the worse the problems actually become, and for Kaylee the clock keeps ticking.
I've never been a Tod fan. I've always found him too annoying and interfering to be good for Kaylee. But in this story he's the only one she can turn to who isn't more screwed up than her.
As her family and friends try to find a way for her NOT to die, it all comes down to her own testiment of determination and past actions to prove to the makers that her being on the planet is better for everyone...although it might not be exactly how she planned.
With the title of the book being different from the other ones in this series this is definitely a curve in the whole dramatic storyline that is Soul Screamers.
I can't wait for the next one to find out what happens now....

I've heard a ton of good things about this series. I may have to check it out. I've been curious for awhile, but other books kept popping up that I knew I'd love (from authors I've already read). I may have to see if the library has a copy of the first book when I go today. Great review!
ReplyDeleteHello! This was one series that kept yelling at me too. Finally I started it, hoping it was going to be good - and it was better than that! Definitely one of my favourite series to date!
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure I haven't read any other books on banshees. This sounds super interesting and I'm definitely going to pick it up!
ReplyDeleteHey Ems, Have you started the series yet?? I can't wait for the next one to come out!
DeleteI love this series so much :) I'm the exact opposite to you, I found Nash annoying and immature and preferred Tod, I can't wait to see what happens next!
ReplyDeleteHey Jasmine1485!
DeleteI know I'm in the minority. Tod has stolen alot of hearts with this serious. I think I just always like the underdog!!
