Review:
I read Geek Girl and the sequel Model Misfit a while ago so I'd forgotten about Harriet Manners and her clumsy, overthinking, 'totally in love with Lion Boy' ways. And this was a thrilling way of getting back into her brain. You remember, the one full of really bizarre and useful/less facts.
I'm reading this in March and the book is based during December and very, very Christmassy. In fact, if you love Christmas you'll love Harriet too because she is seriously bonkers for it too. So much so that she prepares for it months in advance.
The book starts with Harriet super-obsessing about Christmas decorations while she's trying NOT to think about her first kiss with Nick. The only thing is she can't get past it. She revels in the memory.
But he doesn't phone after. Or text. Or write. Or message. Harriet is in a flummox. What should she do? What's the proper etiquette?
This novella was a joy to read. Mainly because while we know Harriet's shortcomings are bountiful we also find out she's got a top secret 'thing' she can do with all the air and grace she deserves and firmly puts Nick in his place and pops herself by his side as an 'equal' in the grand scheme of Harriet's life.
I loved this. Now I'm continuing in my quest to finish Series books off. Onto Geek Drama next!
